HOA's have the exact same mindset as Federal ATF Bureaucrats..... THEY can make whatever rules they want.

Horry County HOA bans firearms from shared spaces, raising questions about gun owner rights
A Horry County HOA set a new rule banning firearms from all shared property, and there are questions on if this rule is going against gun owners’ rights.www.wmbfnews.com
I bet you had some interesting conversations about Treyvon Martin....In my old hood we solved that.
I became HOA Pres for 7 straight years.
We not only approved of firearms, we held safety classes at the culdesac-de-sac in the 1st Tuesday of every month
HOAs can be good if you participate and keep sight of the main goal of maintaining home values.
We bought for $275 in ‘07 and sold for $501 in ‘22

HOAs are just a taste of tyranny of the Karens
Only if you let them
If you move into an HOA neighborhood and have a copy of the covenants, it’s on you.
Most major covenant changes require at least 2/3 majority homeowners vote.
The HOA IS YOU
If you choose not to participate, that’s on you
Our house before last had a crazy HOA, their rule enforcement was very Bias, pick and chose, who they liked or disliked. A couple of incidents come to mine, if you did not have your lawn at a certain height they would send you a letter of warning then send a crew out and charge you $250 for the mow job. Yes it was in the covenant. Anyway, this one single guy had his grass as high as everyone else, it was obvious he was singled out. He told me he got alot of those letters, and sure enough one time he got the letter the same day that they sent out a crew to mow his yard. Rumor was he dated one of the HOA woman, must of ended bad, found this out later.HOA .. depends, there are many absentee landlords who do not live there and depending on the rules a major investor in an HOA neighborhood can dramatically basically be a dictatorship or major voter
also remember there is a reason why the USA is a Republic and not Democracy, as with a democracy you can have tyranny of the majority.
any HOA which can take away your constitutional rights, IS A PROBLEM

Speaking of cars on blocks, been hearing many HOAs are not allowing people to work on their cars in their own driveway. I seemed to remember a neighbor coming to me and told me ours was or was going to, while I was changing the brakes on our car. My working on our vehicles is usually maintenance, so done in a day. Our driveway was spotless, that is no oil on it.Bad, corrupt, ignorant, self important, vengeful, people can exist in every organization going all the way to our Congress and the White House.
So are there those people in some of the thousands of HOAs? Yes
Are they actually common and represent MOST HOAs? Uh no
Nobody is taking away anyone’s Constitutional rights when the covenants you accepted when you bought the home clearly state you can’t park your ‘63 Ford on concrete blocks in your front yard. Or allow your property to become an eyesore.
Both of which decrease MY property’s value. This is the purpose of an HOA
If you choose to live that way, there is plenty of land available and plenty of neighborhoods with no HOA
The subdivision just south and west of our previous home was built at the same time and by the same builder. They chose to disband their HOA.
Those property’s are valued and sell at roughly 40% less than what ours did. Because of comps, they STILL negatively effected my home’s value.
Your “rights” stop where the covenants you accepted say they stop, and where you damage my homes value.
