US Elections (& Politics) :)

But it's still Trump's fault that the June 2024 prices have not gone down. He had an entire 10 months to fix a four+ year issue. Bad, bad orange man!

The point isnt whose "fault" it is, and its not about rising prices from 2020, its that Trump and Bessent and Nutlick go on Live Video almost daily telling us stuff that simply isnt true.
Gaslighting isnt going to fix anything. People are noticing.

Why can't he just tell the truth and say "The economy is tough right now but here's what we're doing about it...."

Prices continue to rise over Biden’s numbers. It’s not about what was inherited. It’s what’s still happening while he looks you in the eye and says it isn’t. That is on Trump.

Is it the end if the world yet? No.

Is it going as he says it is? No.

This isn’t hard

THIS!! Absolutely. Even if he just ACKNOWLEDGED that prices have remained high for a lot of things-- and urged people to be patient.

Republicans are in no hurry to open the government. I know its more fun to blame everything on the Dems, but you're being played.
I believe they want to see civil unrest on Faux News to pull the trigger on abandoning the 60 vote filibuster rule. Which is stupid and will cause lasting problems.

DOA: Republicans Reject Democrats' One-Year ACA Extension To End Shutdown

30 minutes after Democrats offered to reopen the government if Republicans agree to extend pandemic-era (temporary) Obamacare enhancements, Republicans rejected it outright - with one senior Senate GOP aide saying it's 'dead on arrival,' Bloomberg reports.

Of note, Republicans already offered this to Democrats in earlier negotiations even though House Speaker Mike Johnson opposed the idea.

The shutdown is starting to ‘bite the economy,’ top Trump aide warns. The Senate is struggling to make a deal

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat, made an offer on Friday afternoon to end the shutdown. He called for a funding bill that would reopen the government while also providing a one-year extension to Obamacare subsidies and establishing a bipartisan committee to address healthcare costs. Schumer said in a Senate floor speech: “Democrats are ready to clear the way to quickly pass a government funding bill that includes healthcare affordability.”

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, a South Dakota Republican, rejected Schumer’s proposal, telling reporters that it’s a “nonstarter” but also saying, “I guess you can characterize that as progress.”

The S&P 500 stock index SPX
+0.13%
closed slightly higher Friday after erasing losses, with some analysts attributing the benchmark’s comeback to Schumer’s offer being viewed as an encouraging development. After the market’s close, Trump said in a social-media post that the Senate “should not leave town until they have a Deal to end the Democrat Shutdown.”

Earlier this week, there had been optimism over a bipartisan Senate deal that would involve a promise to vote on extending Obamacare subsidies in exchange for passage of a stopgap spending bill that reopens parts of the government, as well as passage of full-year appropriations bills that reopen other parts.

I don't think that the Republican want the illegals and others of that ilk on the ACA for another year. I can see their point. The Democrats want to "open" the border again.

But this isnt about the border.

They offered to open based on keeping existing ACA healthcare subsidies in place. Like we've had from the beginning.
Without that, 20 million AMERICAN people will see an already baked in 18-20% increase and another 30+% increase effectively doubling healthcare costs for AMERICANS.

Illegals accessing emergency health care (along with Americans who cant afford it) via Ronald Reagan's and the Republicans 1986 law isnt really a cost factor.
There is legitimate concern about Medicaid servicing illegals in some blue states, but that is a STATE authority not part of this problem.

BREAKING: Supreme Court issues emergency order temporarily blocking full SNAP food aid payments - AP

Lets hope that there are enough level headed people to understand that cutting off Food assistance AND healthcare for some 20-40 million people is NOT a good idea.

Oh I know, tough guy voice "Fuck em all freeloaders"
Thats not the country I grew up in. Some level of compassion is a hallmark of the America we knew

Reuters: “The court’s action, known as an administrative stay, gives a lower court additional time to consider the administration’s formal request to only partially fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as SNAP or food stamps, for November. Chief Justice John Roberts, who issued the stay, set it to expire in two days.”

"Like we've had from the beginning." Like when Obama got it passed.
