I came across this old thread and thought it was funny because I ended up building almost exactly the kind of tool being discussed here.
I install CCTV systems in Ireland and got tired of repeatedly cleaning spider webs from cameras, especially when they interfere with IR at night.
My approach was to leave the cleaning tool permanently on the camera. It has a small motor and periodically sweeps new webs away automatically, without touching the camera lens.
I’m now testing the first units on actual CCTV installations:

I’d be genuinely interested in feedback from installers here, particularly on the mounting and the idea of automatic periodic cleaning.
