what do you guys do if BI crashes ?
basically worse case scenario if you are not close to the PC that operates it, is there any auto reboot options or ? what do you do ?
(1) If the power went out - set the BIOS so that the PC powers back up when power is restored.
(2) Make sure BI process is enabled to start up automatically at power up.
(3) Install Blue Iristools and enable Watchdog (program monitor).
+1 to what @Sybertiger suggested...but here's the link for BIT (the forum picked up on a different keyword "tool" to link in his post); download is upper right of the page:
I'm very happy to introduce Blue IrisTools to everyone. Blue Iris Tools was created to act as a companion to Blue Iris and has a bunch of features built in to help maximize your Blue Iris experience.
Some of the core features of Blue Iris Tools are:
Weather Overlays
Easily add the local weather to your camera feeds,
Easily create Macros for Blue Iris right from BI Tools,
Ability to assign all weather conditions to 1 Macro!
Retrieve & overlay weather from multiple locations
Watchdog
If Blue Iris crashes or closes, BI Tools will re-open it...
I have had 2 cases recently where BI locks up and stops working. It's usually over the weekend when I am not sitting at my desk working, and watching UI3. Continuous recording still works and I can scrub through those if I needed to, but I will lose days of alerts (both motion and ONVIF). To fix this, I reboot the PC.
I setup Proxmox as a host to run BlueIris virtual machine (vm), Home Assistant vm, CodeProject.AI in Debian linux vm, and etc. I added Proxmox integration to Home Assistant so HA can monitor ALL virtual machines' CPU/RAM/HD/whatever else. Then I setup an automation so if my BI vm CPU usage is low for 5 minute, HA reboots BI and send me a notification.
This is one of many advantage of using BlueIris as a virtual machine instead of running it on a physical computer.
I've been using the following remote power switch for a little over 3 years now... Works like a charm whenever I cannot remote connect to BI via a device... It power cycles the PC and, if desired, another device (router, modem, switch).

I have a remote site that periodically loses internet, if the internet is down for say 24hrs is this switch going to automatically reboot in a non stop loop until the internet is restored?
