VTO2000a PoE question

I bought a used VTO2000a but accidently hooked it up on a normal PoE source, now when i try to connect it to my VTNS it won't power on. Did i break the Dahua PoE circuit by hooking it up to the 48v PoE?

Second question is if I can just simply use the wire pairs 4+5 & 7+8 to connect the external powersource? (I red on this forum that it should beable to handle 12-24v as an external power source).
