Problem: BI detects motion (Status bar blue + iOS app confirms) but no alert/clip saved for fast-moving owl flying straight to nest box.

Video: (7:11AM owl flies in). This is the video this morning that did not trigger the alert.

Camera: Dahua IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E. BI Version - 5.9.9.73

Question - see screenshots of motion settings and zone setup. Zones is just simple A = the owl box colored in. B = a tripwire rectangle around the box but not touching zone A. So, if the owl enters the box or leaves the box it should cross both zones and trigger the alert.

Motion sensor- Persistence 2262ms- Min object 325px - Min contrast 18%- Min - Reset change exceeds 67%; Object must cross zones - B>A,A>B;

Consider changing from Edge Vector to Simple and maybe use a hotspot instead of zone crossing. That is a small zone crossing and I would expect much to be missed.

Uncheck reset change exceeds 67% as that is to eliminate false triggers and you have the opposite. None of my cams have that boxed checked.

+1^^^.
"Simple" and "Hotspot" works great inside my bluebird box.
@iseeker, are you still planning to use the Sercomm RC4551 that I sold you?

@wittaj - a hotspot just means zone A around the owl box and simple movement is made? The owl sits for hours in the hole and moves it head around. Would be a lot of alerts likely, but probably better than no alerts. Trying to just get it flying in and out.

@TonyR - yes; above is for viewing the box vs in the box. We've had an owl in there since I got it and hopefully it will attract a mate; which means it's a early summer project at this point. Need to figure out the run as well.
