Im in the process of upgrading my old cameras to something newer. I have an LTS LTN8708K-P8 NVR and im trying to setup and configure 4 new LTS LXIP3C82NWI-28SDL turret cameras. Ive gone and ahead and plugged the camera into the network and I was able to activate it. I then plugged it ino the NVR itself however the NVR isnt detecting it at all. Ive tried to scan for it and the NVR doesn't see it. I know these cameras are onvif compatible...shouldnt the NVR detect them? The only way I can get the nvr to detect these cameras is to plug them into the network and then im a able to add them via onvif and it works. However as soon as I connect the camera to the back of the nvr it doesnt connect anymore. Am I doing something wrong? Ive verified the password and ive even tried a few different protocols (:onvif, lts, hikvision)

This one is a head scratcher perhaps I'm doing something wrong?

Unplug cam from the NVR, Set cam back to factory defaults.
Don't do anything else in the cam at this time, after the cam comes back online, plug the cam into the NVR port you want to use, then wait up to 5 minutes for the NVR to add it.
Your mistake was activating the cams prior to plugging into to the NVR.

Next, make any cam setting changes directly in the cameras, not in the NVR.

To add the why to looney2ns's fix: the NVR's PoE ports sit on their own internal network (usually 192.168.254.x), and in Plug-and-Play mode the NVR is looking for cameras that aren't activated yet, so it can activate them with its own password and give them an address on that network. Once you activate a camera yourself, it keeps the password and IP you gave it, which is why it works over ONVIF on your LAN but drops off as soon as it moves to a PoE port.

If you'd rather not reset all four, you can leave them activated and add them manually instead. Give each camera a free address on the PoE subnet first (something like 192.168.254.21, .22 and so on), then plug it into the NVR, edit that channel in the IP camera list, switch the adding method from Plug-and-Play to Manual, and enter that IP with the password you set. Also worth checking the camera activation password in the NVR's IP camera settings, since that's the one it uses for any cameras it adds on its own.
