This forum needs a dedicated sub-forum for Ubiquiti's UniFi Ecosystem

Ubiquiti has made progress leaps and bounds over the past few years. Though pricey, their cameras and UniFi Protect system simply work and the company is beginning to emphasize on image quality (for both daytime and nighttime performance) with some of their newer cameras announced this year. Specs do not matter if a company cannot fully deliver or if there isn't consistent quality control.
Ubiquiti is on a good start and I am beginning to recommend them to the less tech-savvy people who don't want to have multiple systems deployed in their environment. You can probably get more bang for the buck through Dahua / Hikvision but the tariff situation and overall perception over lack of innovation (where companies like Dahua and Hikvision now emphasize more on color vision, with compromise to the onboard image sensors, and gimmicky AI features) in recent years makes the UniFi option a more compelling option - where something just works out of the box without sitting for hours tweaking settings, etc.

Awesome, thanks! :D

Hopefully, the influx of traffic from Ubiquiti users does not wreck havoc  lol
You have been a valuable member of this community for many years. As a token of my appreciation, I have made you an IPCT Contributor, which gives you access to all IPCT+ features and much more :)

Well, I am back on this forum after playing with other systems, specifically because I am a Ubiquiti user/deployer.

Back when I joined, it was about blue iris topics, but five years ago, I deployed Ubiquiti for networking and firewall to meet a new business setup requirements, ie, quick and cheap. Protect was there but not used. Over time, the Protect side was brought online on the UDM, then moved to a 1U NVR, and a 2U NVR was added. We are up to 40 cameras at this point. Facial recognition is being used to detect when an unruly customer who was banned from the premises returns.

The annoying aspect of Ubiquiti is what they deliver: it falls short of where I am trying to get to. I.e., they announce new capabilities, but it's about a year before that capability is fully fleshed out through updates.

Another issue is their inventory - they exploit their fanbase and and spend more time in trying to market products through sponsored youtube channels with no exact ETA of when newly announced products are available to be purchased; and when they are available to be purchased they only allocate a small number before going out of stock again with no ETA as to when they expect to replenish their inventory - they also blame it partially on tariffs sadly
The only aspect I like about Ubiquiti is that their stuff just works even with minimal configuration

I really like Ubiquiti's point to multi point for large land areas with power at numerous barn and shack locations too far for conventional direct burial as long as line of sight is good. Regardless of the camera brands.

That is marketing 101 right there. Create a hyped buzz about how great a product that doesn't exist yet will be, go quiet on it for a few months, create some more buzz, sit on it for a while, and then just before you release the product, create the buzz that the product will sell out in mere minutes after official street release date. Works like a charm, every single time...... Kind of like the covid toilet paper shortage......
