Following on from my disasterous experience of the IE92 poe system. ( see other thread where the unit has been deliberately mis-sold"
Seems as though there may be some glimmer of hope.
Right now ebay seems to be flooded with the IE92 product here in the uk, after some discussion with the charity organisation that took a load of them. They confirm that they received the products from a third party.
They are currently being offered for around £120. Elsewhere IEGEEK are advertising their product directly to the public with huge discounts.
Makes me wonder why! perhaps they are trying to off load them.
I decided to connect one of the cameras to an old Fluoreon NVR that I was able to sent to the skip. Just before I connected it, I set the camera for ONVIF, which with the iegeek nvr was enough to report back a network error and that was that... But the fluoreon NVR recognised the camera off the bat!
Surprisingly the cam is recognised by the NVR as a Hikvision, which seems strange.
However the NVR does not want to control the pan and tilt and I suppose it was wishful thinking.
All is not lost though, the camera now running ONVIF is immediately discovered by Home Assistant which may expose the ability to use some AI.
I suppose for those who feel like a trip into the unknown, the current price for 4 camera with tilt and pan h265, ONVIF etc, plus the 2GB HDD is not bad... The rubbish NVR can be used as a door stop until the day that someone much clever than myself can write some decent firmware to upload to it.
Regarding the inability to use a windows web browser to access the NVR and being forced to download an app is of grave concern and perhaps underlines the reason to give tthe boot to the NVR.
regards all
Simon
