These cameras are capable of missing object detection, but from what I can see you're not able to do it through IVS like all of the examples I've found do. My available IVS rules are "tripwire, intrusion, fast moving, parking detection, crowd gathering, stay detection, and loitering detection". I do have the option for "smart object detection", which works well, but it's a different AI event entirely, and I don't see a way to use it without losing the ability to use IVS, as only one can be active at a time. Am I missing something?

Short answer no.
You could probably do it with a newer NVR that allows AI functions by NVR and by camera simultaneously.

Curious where you see examples of it within IVS?

I do seem to recall it was a choice long ago....?

To clarify, I don't know what cameras were used in the videos I've seen for setting up object detection via IVS, but they all had it in the IVS "Intrusion, tripwire, etc." list, as does my final Lorex camera that I haven't swapped out yet.

I'm using an EmpireTech NVR32CH-16P-2AI-S2 NVR. I believe it's modern, but haven't seen a way to use both camera and NVR AI simultaneously with it. I'm still figuring it all out, though.
