Stupid question but I have to ask

Which does the motion detection, BI or the camera itself?

I'm trying to solve a problem I have with motion detection. I have a tree in the camera's view that, when the wind blow, it triggers a motion event. I want to exclude the tree from the detection area but first I need to the answer to the above question.

It can be the camera and/or BI depending on your settings.

Thanks. I read this on redit. They also said over there that when the camera detects motion it sends a signal to BI to register it. I'm testing that out now. I can easily zone out the tree in the camera but I don't see where this is possible in BI.

In BI you have to draw a zone that doesnt have the tree in it.

But if your camera has AI that would be the preferred way with IVS rules.

Or use the AI that is built into BI 6, it does a pretty good job of ignoring shadows from Trees blowing in the wind and clouds passing overhead on sunny days!
