I live on a marsh and even though it is 1 November, there is occasionally a snowstorm of bugs flying into the cam at night. Spiders have discovered this also. When I first looked in the daytime, there were no webs or spiders on the cam, but they were sure there at night! Then I looked real hard a second time and found one about 1/4 the size of a common housefly. It looked like a Jumper rather than a web builder.
I read about using Vaseline (petroleum jelly) around the leading edge and body, assuming spiders would get caught in the goo ...for about one evening.
I've gone into my chemistry store thinking there must be a better solution/deterrent. I'll post if I find something that works.
