Southwire Cat5e Cable

That looks fine. It says it is solid copper conductors and $80 is about the right price for 500ft of cat5e anymore.

You can get better price per foot going with a 1000ft spool, for example there's this one for $104 but it is unbranded so who knows what quality you'll get. And who knows how long before you'd use it all.

Help me out, where does it say solid copper?

Thanks, I'm just suspicious that if it doesn't say anything about solid copper on the box, it must be CCA.

Southwire 500' Cat 5E Indoor/Outdoor

Just wondering if anyone has used this specific cable on their installs outdoors? This will not be direct burial and only partially exposed to the elements like under the eaves.

I've looked at Truecable and Monoprice and their prices are outrageous. I don't even need 500'.
That is not a fair price comparison. You are NOT comparing the pricing for the same type of cables as the southwire.

I've had several non-outdoor cable runs have the outer insulation crack and eventually flake off in places with heavy sun exposure, and have gone to covering any sun-exposed areas with 1/4 inch split loom tubing. I realize you cable says it's Indoor/Outdoor, and maybe it has great UV resistance, so I'm offering this only as a paranoid precaution.

I've had Monoprice non-outdoor CMR cable do this :( even when routed through galvanized 1/2" conduit

my 1000ft spool of Truecable outdoor was good product. Took quite awhile to burn thru it with just 2 buildings to install cameras at.
Shits gone up though eh? was $149. ordered before Covid quite a few years ago. Although tight corners were not it's best feature.
