Searching for a desktop for blue iris

I'm looking at this desktop to run around a total of 10-12 cameras. Most are going to be 2mp and a couple of 4mp cameras and maybe in the future a 8mp camera. I would like to record at 20fps. Is this a big enough set up for those cameras?

1)You do not need to record more than 15 fps.
2)When stating a system also state the price.
3) the number of cameras is not important it is MP/Sec/ what is your total MP/SEC
4) read the cliff notes in the wiki
5) check the link for other systems running BI. Blue Iris Update Helper

my general system
1) at lease a 6th generation intel cpu
2) 8 gb memory
3) windows 10
4) ssd at least 128 GB , for the OS and BI
5) a free 3.5 disk slot for a 4 TB WD purple drive.

The price is $259.99. I am still working on the MP/sec total. Not good with this technical stuff but determined to learn it.

Ok maybe I'm just over thinking the MP/SEC, but I'm having trouble figuring it out. I read the wiki numerous times and can't figure it out. Can someone help me out?
 
Ahh, I see. I was over thinking it or just not processing it right in my head. So by my calculations for the cameras I would be using I came up with 510MP/SEC.

I think that is a little high. But @fenderman may have a better idea.
 
With the SSD it's not a terrible deal, but you want to confirm it's an SSD put there by HP or otherwise a good brand. Generally these systems go for about 200 with no SSD.
 
So would that computer have any room for expansion past my already spec'd out 510 MP/SEC or is that pretty close to the limits of what it's built with?

Understand, that refurbished is a meaningless term. Refurbished can be "i did nothing" all the way up to and including "I sprayed the crap out of it with some compressed air cleaner and reinstalled the OS".
 
I do like more power at a good price. How big of a SSD would you recommend with that system? Would you just get a western digital purple for that?
 
You do not really need a big SSD. It will just need to hold Windows and BI's clip database. $20 USD will buy a 120 GB model that will do fine. http://amzn.com/B07G3KRZBY

Your recordings should go on a mechanical HDD like a Western Digital Purple or Seagate Skyhawk. The OS and clip DB can go there too, but as cheap as SSDs are now, I would rather get one and dedicate the HDD to recordings.

As noted you don't need a large SSD, I generally use 250gb. Note that that PC also supports m.2 ssd drives. You will also need to order the specialized screws to mount any standard drives, you can search the threads but discuss them they are available for a few dollars on eBay.
