As the subject heading says I have a counterfeit Pl2303hxa which I last used with win 8 after rolling the firmware back. I now have win 10 which loads it own firmware and the above message is displayed by device manager. There’s a number so call work arounds on the net for win 10 but none of then worked for me. However after hrs of searching this link does.
Fake PL2303 - how to install on Windows 8.1 - BartB
It loads firmware 3.3.2.105 date 27/10/2008 to your computer.
Then on the device update driver page select search my pc for driver.
Select firmware 3.3.2.105.
This survives a reboot of the computer, but at this stage have not tested by disconnection and reconnection of the serial device. Hopefully this may save some others the grief that I had in getting this device to work while I wait for a so called win 10 replacement device from China.
