It’s not really NVR fault, you just can’t optimize for playback and realtime in the same app without completely rethinking your software and its purpose.
Please help me develop OneDoor (see my profile for link). Getting bored here, releases are slowing down. Currently at 1/2 weekly instead of old 2/1. This thing is so fast that I use it for basic automations like hot tub and garage control because no other app gets me there quicker or easier with the right feedback.
Far from prefect, I have 20-40ms of low hanging audio latency fruit and half of it is just one ConfBridge setting I keep forgetting. I’m an electrical engineer and not a software developer. The code may show that for better or worse but you’ll probably agree that security is taken very seriously.
If a claim seems over the top, ask me about it. Obv I’m leaving doorbells with TCP delay because they are awful devices and the delay is the DSP. Still, we’re cutting down the crap and getting as close as possible to live. SIP is still King but all devices are welcome now.
