I have been having an ongoing issue with my NVR5208-8P-4KS2E since upgrading the firmware to to V4.002.0000000.7.R and V4.002.0000008.R killing the ability to do partial zooms in or out on these cameras. The 8 cameras are IPC-HDW2231-ZS with Dahua 2.800.0000000.4.0.R, 2019-01-22 firmware.

All of the Equipment was purchased from EmpireTech Andy here on this website.

I contacted Dahua America, and this is their response.

After checking the serial numbers I can confirm that the cameras in question are not Dahua North American devices which means I won't have any way to confirm or test this. One thing you could try is factory defaulting one of the cameras and see if that helps, otherwise you will need to see if you can find a different firmware that may help from the international page.

Dahua America's response!

I don't have firmware for these cameras to share.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your product. Our Support team is only able to assist in Dahua products that are geared for North America. Even though your product may state Dahua it is possible that it was purchased through a third party and then sold in this market.

Unfortunately, since you have purchased the product from a third party and we cannot verify the Serial Number that you have provided, you will need to talk to the person or company that you purchased the system from for more support. You are also welcome to visit our information database at: Dahua Wiki for instructional videos, How To guides, and specifications.

I guess these NVRs or cameras aren't totally compatible with Dahua' hardware.

Not exactly correct.

Dahua America has equipment that is hardcoded for the US region.

Dahua International has equipment that is hardcoded for International region.

Dahua China has equipment hardcoded for China region, etc.

Interchanging firmware amongst the different regions can do anything from nothing at all, to partial working, to completely bricking.

What you experienced reaching out to Dahua America is exactly what we would expect by not buying from a Dahua America installer (and paying 3-5 times what you paid for yours).

We simply are not their target audience, it is the professional installers/distributors that are authorized to sell and install this gear, so we cannot purchase directly and thus they will not take your phone call for support related questions or suggestions - they will tell you to talk to the installer/distributor you purchased from for sales, support or firmware updates.

Many people have bought a "Hikvision" or "Dahua" from Amazon or some shady foreign website or a 3rd party seller or even an authorized distributor and when they call Hikvision or Dahua for support they basically tell them to go pound salt - we have dozens of threads were people come here after trying that route. We simply are not their intended market to sell to and they will not take your call for support...Lot's of threads here confirming this, including one from a few months ago where someone tried to call for support and they told them sorry talk to your installer.

And now we can add your post to the growing list...

A motto here is don't fix what ain't broke.

Did the release notes state it was fixing a problem you were having?

You need to pull the firmware from either Empiretech's website or Dahua International as Empiretech are International Cameras not Dahua America cameras.

I would suggest factory resetting anything you uploaded firmware on and try again with the international versions.

Those are old model cameras.

Where did you get the FW? And full FW version #?

Those don’t sound right for that camera off the top of my head…
