Notes from the Swamp

We used to have a female orange cat when I was a kid. She was very close to my grandma and also the only human being allowed to touch her in the entire family. I almost felt like she was my grandma's daughter the way she talks to the orange cat and the way the cat acted around my grandma. But this aunt of mine was very wild and doesn't like to stay home and gone for days before coming back all the time. She was very good at catching all types of small animals.:)

Orange cats are different!

This one was a stray, the owner isn’t far from us, but didn’t take care of it. About 3 years old and still a lot of kitten in him

So anyway Hemingway slowly adopted us and is now our official kinda sorta outside family member

Halloween, when I was no more than maybe 5 or 6 years old: I called at a house to trick-or-treat. The woman that opened the door asked me if I would like an orange kitty. I thought maybe that was a cookie or something. I said, "Yes." she told me to come in and pick the one I wanted. She led me to a bunch of orange, live, kittens and told me to choose one. I did and took it home with me. After my parents learned what had happened, they took me back to the house to return my 'treat'. (It was a different time.)

I had that same experience with a puppy at a neighborhood “fair”

Odd thing last night

(posted to our community FB page)

Last night between 12:30 and 1am my cameras caught a royal blue Dodge pickup cruising VERY slowly back and forth on xxxxx street. He passed 6 times in 30 minutes. Always crawling slow.
I got a plate and a decent face shot but wasn't going to do anything ....until he showed up again today! 3x same thing, very slowly, then he parked up at the little bend near #9 xxxxx street angled so that he could see down the street and just barely out of view.

So I drove up and confronted him. He said he didnt live here, I told him it was odd what he was doing last night and he responded, "yeah". He started to offer a BS explanation about meeting a Realtor...I gave him the "you're full of shit" look and told him Good Luck and came back and pulled video and called the police non-emergency line and reported a suspicious person.

They came out and identified him from the license plate and said they would contact him. I wont go into detail and dont have a name and have not heard anything back from local PD. Basically a 70 year old white guy, Retired Marine plate and sticker. Not your typical burglar and verified he's not a PI or LE. (Thank you to local PD as they responded in 10 minutes)

Anyway, he may well be the nicest guy in the world and just looking to drop $5000 in each of our mailboxes, or maybe not. I dunno, but the whole affair was weird and his answers sucked. I have no reason to think he's a danger, but plenty to think he's odd at best.

BOLO

Is that flintstone doing a pro bono drive thru to test your cameras :lmao:

I couldn’t figure out why the 4K-X was so blurry at night. (Not shown)

Until I went and swept a softball sized spider web and trapped mosquitos off the lens cover
