First off, is there a thread somewhere for noobs that has a quick explanation of what each spec is or does? I looked through the WIKI and didn’t see anything.
I am looking at the EmpireTech PTZ425DB-AT and have a few quick questions.

  • Alarm I/O 2/1. Thinking these low current relays can be used by inputs like gates, magnetic driveway loops, etc to trigger a action in the camera? Outputs for lighting, sirens, coffee machine, etc?
  • Auto Tracking Yes. Is there a spec that specifies the camera will zoom in on the target?
Again, Thank you for guiding an old new guy into the real world of security that I thought I had a better grasp on until I came here..:wow:

After further research I found enough information to formulate a rough plan. Back in 2000 I had a pretty high teck system with capture cards, argus NVR, IR beams , PTZ's, LPR camera, illuminators and spotlights tied into the argus system.
Then I moved to the property and replaced it all with a relativly dumb AHD system.
So Im not a complete newbie, just trying to get up to speed again which at my age takes longer than I remember.
Thank you....

Hi @oldspyguy

Models change, in terms of auto tracking I've seen a number of threads which members shared what they were doing. Perhaps searching on PTZ and "auto tracking" will help bring up those threads.

Same with the Alarm I/O .. iirc some members shared how they were using Alarm I/O to move the camera view to spots. I do not recall the members who stated this, so you will need to search or ask around.
