I help out with IT work for a friends small business. The security camera system in his building is becoming rather long in the tooth by my standards and hes having some strange issues so I would like to help him upgrade it. I work in IT professionally, but I am not super well-versed in security cameras.
Hes got 15 Axis POE cameras wired throughout the building and is using Milestone Xprotect 2016 on a Windows 7 server for the NVR. All of this was installed roughly 10 years ago (not by me). He really likes to use the Xprotect mobile app on his iphone to check the cameras from wherever he is. Thats pretty much the only way he interacts with the system, so a mobile app is important. The cameras are still working just fine, so I guess its just the NVR system that I need some recommendations on. I will most likely use the same server hardware and just replace the HDDs if needed. I have copies and product keys for windows server 2016 and 2019 standard. I also know Linux well so either OS is fine.
What are some good, simple and modern NVR solutions for 15 cameras that also has an IOS mobile app for access that I should be looking at?
