New Camera time?

While putting up the Christmas light last week I noticed what appeared to be small hairline crack in the camera lens cover. Well I tried to clean them off and now it’s turned to a haze that the camera really can’t see through. Is there any fixing this or is it new camera time?

Replace the lens cover.
They deteriorate over time, especially from sun. It’s a layer but it can’t be repaired.

I don’t know if anyone sells them though

That

If you can't find a replacement and since it's useless anyway, I would try to gently polish away whatever that stuff is and the scratches. Similar to headlight cover restoration. Kind of looks like the a coating was separating, unless that is build up from water. Then however you tried to clean it scratched the heck out of it.

edit: the rubber seals look like they may need some attention too

The coated lens has deteriorated from the sun. Could polish it off and it'll be usable a little longer but might need frequent polishing. I've not seen Dahua sell replacement lenses on here.

Yeah, the auto lens polishing kits are good for haze on polycarbonate lens covers that the sun's UV and/or local smog has attacked......the lens cover there looks like it was cleaned with a Brillo pad or #00 grit sand paper. I don't think it can be rescued.

I may or may not have went from Cotten and a little spit to glass cleaner and mild abrasive cleaning pad. Maybe I should give fire a try next? Lol

Guess it’s new camera time,
B54IR-ZE-S3 maybe…

Next time try white vinegar on a micro fiber cloth. I have also had fairly good luck with a lemon slice to clean off water spots from lawn sprinklers. Removes the calcium build up.

But my go to lately has been to replace it. That's the cam, not the lens cover, as I can't seem to find them anywhere.

I vaguely remember Andy was going to look into sourcing replacements. That was over a year ago, I think. Do not think anything came of that.

send a DM to Andy, it might cost you, but he told me if I really wanted one he could get me one for a 5241.
