Hello all. I’m posting in this forum for two reasons.
1 Reconditions for someone who has used Mobotix cameras for the last twenty years and looking for something better.
2 To help those that use Mobotix cams. Specifically M-24 / M-25 / M-26
At the 9 to 11 year point they fail. I have tossed a few not knowing they could be fixed by anyone with a steady hand.
Come to find out it’s nothing more than the RTC Battery. However unlike a motherboard in a computer where the battery can just be popped out and a new one installed. Mobotix chose to solder there’s in.
If you are a pro and have a Desoldering tool and don’t mind working close to an exposed image sensor you got this. Me not so much. Working from the easily accessible side opposite the Image sensor I carefully pried out the batteries on two cams leaving the soldered in tabs and just used wires to connect the battery to the board. Done. Looks like I can get another ten years out of this.
I hope this helps others in extending the life of there M-Cams / No need in expressing what I really think of this kind of engineering.
