Laptop specs for NVR

I am planning on using my laptop for BI and wondering if specs are sufficient. It does only have a small 128GB ssd installed but wondering if I could hook up an external hdd or record to one of my servers. Thanks for any help and I am just beginning so I am totally new.

Dont use your laptop. For 100 dollars you can buy a desktop that will run circles around that low power processor. see wiki
