I rented a van and now I can't see what I want to see. (BTW, I hate commercials.) This is a very temporary thing for today and tomorrow for half the day, so I will bite the bullet for now. But this will happen more in the future. Enough that i am thinking of utilizing a battery powered Wi-Fi cam in the cab to provide a view beyond the "commercial". A temporary battery cam seems like it would be quick, easy and good enough without dragging a cable out and having it smashed by the door. Thoughts?

It's not clear to me the camera's purpose:
  • For safer backing up of the truck?
  • Monitor contents of truck when you're not in it?
Also, in what manner would you view the camera?
  • Live?
  • If so, in the truck cab or ??
  • Recordings only?

Ah! Sorry if I wasn't clear.
Normally I have a view of the driveway and the street. I am able to observe/record activity on the street, and people and vehicles that may enter the driveway.
I just discovered yesterday that whenever a truck like this will be parked (especially overnight and multiple days), I will not be able to see what is happening at the entrance to the driveway. That's what made me think of placing a temporary portable camera in the cab when it willbe left parked there. It would face out the windshield. This is not a priority project at all. I'm thinking more quick and dirty and "What would happen if I did this?"
I can try a $20 Tapo or Wyze cam for proof of concept. The battery idea was simply to avoid dragging a cable back and forth and smashing it in the door. I will look at cheapo dashcams too.
This cam would only be active when I am done outside and want to see what's up while I am inside.
