Issues with getting snapshots to work

Never used snapshots before.

I access the cameras via UI3 in browser.

I have set up the camera using the GUI to only record snapshots on an Event, not General, every 1 second.

I have set up the camera using Blue Iris to record a snapshot "when triggered" every 1 second. (Ideally using a shorter time once this is working) 60% quality.

The camera triggers properly on a vehicle. The image of the vehicle shows on the Blue Iris timeline. The picture does not show on the UI3 timeline, but the UI3 timeline does show a trigger. When I click on this trigger (short blue bar), a black screen appears, but instead of the usual "No video" title, it says "Not BVR". Some snapshot thumbnails appear in the list of "all clips" but not the car ones I want. In any case, when I click on the thumbnail, it freezes the UI3 and says "server unavailable". When I locate the .jpg in the new folder, OR try to download a snapshot from the UI3 thumbnails, microsoft photos tells me the file is corrupted. When I try to open a snapshot directly in Blue Iris, it says "the source file format may be corrupt".

Any ideas how to get the snapshot function working properly? For LPR I thought that was best, but am I better off just grabbing 5 second videos and getting a screengrab from that?

The snapshot function in the camera GUI is different than the BI snapshot.

Make sure you are using H264 with no special codec. Sounds like you might be using H265 or a smart code.

If you send time dialing in your motion settings, one snapshot is all you need for the database only.

Thank you for your reply

I did have the camera set to H264 CBR (max default bitrate)

I noticed my CPU was spiking at times (intel 7700) to 100% when the camera triggered

Then I noticed that the HDD was not producing any activity, nothing was being written by any cameras. Half of my cams are on another HDD and that on was working fine.

So I ran a DB repair in BI. That seemed to fix being able to record to that HDD.

The snapshot function also now works!

How do I get it to take only 1 photo and not 15?
