Is this really this bad in 2026? new bullet...

hi guys, i just bought this turd after having good experience with an IMOU wifi bullet3, thinking a newer dahua should be better.
kind of new product, last firmware from 2025 end.

from the start, the android DMSS app is extremely dumb with limited settings both for the unit and app behavior itself

• minimal quality settings
• det zones imprecise
• at max sensitivity, car or person detection only triggers when dude is walking out of the frame with no pre-record, nor accessible setting to change it
• app is cluttered, illogical, bad English, hard to understand options
• app is biased towards multi camera setup, while handling several cameras with this app must be horrible.

trying alternate methods, managed to hook up config tool and pss_lite ONLY IF they on the same WIFI, getting extra options for quality (fps compression bitrate which are the only good part) but barely anything else.

• one of these is able to create a legit looking browser link for the camera but it shows nothing (chrome).
• they give no info about remote IP of unit for access outside network.
• these softwares has an unergonomic, not windows like interface with "features" like resetting zoom, playspeed and muting sound after each seek (??)
• at this point can't even tell is this bad because of the unit or the software?

tried gDMSS in hope of better alternative, it finds the camera in search mode, but no login/pass works. a this point with EZVIZ studio advanced option enabled I get much more control and fine tune on my other camera.

would you guys chime in on this, any tricks, workarounds? I'm new to dahua but googled hours. can this be improved or should I just return it and get a reolink finally?
