How to view footage when hard drive pulled from NVR?

I have pulled my hard drive out of my Lorex NVR and would like to know how to view footage with the drive removed?
Is it possible to plug the drive into another computer and somehow view the recordings?

I'm assuming that if Lorex (Dahua) are like Hikvision and use a proprietary file system to store video, events, logs etc on an HDD, you'll need to use one of the various forensics software tools to access the stored data.

A few years ago I bought a commercially used Hikvision NVR that still had the apparently formatted HDDs installed, out of curiosity I used a trial version of one such tool to see where the device had been in use. Lots of data that should ideally have been better sanitised ...
