Hikvision Setup: Cable Fit Issues, Audio Calibration, Display Solutions and Camera Firmware

I recently purchased some pre-made Ethernet cables to simplify my installation process. Unfortunately, the extended section (highlighted in red) prevents the waterproof cover from fitting correctly. I’ve installed one camera and temporarily wrapped insulated tape around the housing to seal it.

Going forward, is this an acceptable solution? Or would you recommend a better approach? Would trimming the extended material with a Stanley blade be safe, or is it preferable to remove the RJ45 connector and re-terminate the cable?

Also, I had a question about the microphone input volume on the turret cameras. The default setting is 60, but I came across a video where it was increased to 100. Is it simply a matter of trial and error, or is there a recommended method for determining optimal mic volume?

I’ve installed Hik-Connect on a couple of Fire TV Sticks. Live view works fine, but the main interface is a bit clunky and playback isn’t working. I’m unable to relocate the NVR closer to the TV—so what would be the best way to display the camera feed on the TV more effectively? (I use the web browser on my PC for configuration as the NVR is in the garage).

Lastly, I've updated the NVR firmware but not the cameras. Is it recommended to update the camera firmware even if everything appears to be working fine?

Thanks in advance for your help!
