Hello,

Do I need to have a Hikvision recorder to use the AI functionality of my hikvision camera's?
I currently have 2 types of 4K camera's:
hikvision-ds-2cd2187g2h-lisu-28mm
hikvision-ds-2cd2387g2h-lisu-28mm
but I can't get them to work with human detection or intrusion detection when somebody crosses a line. I see the options in the camera but I can't get it to work with IVMS-4200.
At the moment they all have Samsung MicroSD 256 GB Pro Endurance memory cards in the camera and I use IVMS-4200 on the desktop. Do I need to buy a recorder to get the AI functions working? Currently only motion detection seem to work. But there is too much motion in the garden because of the plants and trees. That's why I want to use the more advanced AI functions.

And in case I need a recorder, which one? I currently only have 3 camera (4K (8MP) quality) and a hikvision doorbell. There might be 1 or 2 extra camera's in the future but that is not sure.
They already have POE from my switches .

Or should I be able to use all the AI functions without a recorder? How can I do this?

Another question: How to control the recorder? Does it have a web interface or is it necessary to install an application? Because I want to know if I can also control it via a linux desktop. I currently have windows 10 but I want to know if switching to linux is an option.

Currently only motion detection seem to work.
You've probably done this already, but -
Check that the camera is creating smart events by enabling 'Rules' (Local | Live view parameters | Rules | Enable tickbox) in the camera web GUI and checking in Live View that triggers (lines going red) occur as intended.

Then - and I don't know if this is valid for an SD card, but it is for an NVR when iVMS-4200 is being used to retrieve events - check that under Event | Smart event | Intrusion detection etc that the Linkage Method 'Notify Surveillance Centre' is ticked.
When using continuous recording to an NVR this allows iVMS-4200 to query for the various types of events that have been configured.
I'd expect that the same requirement exists for the local SD card.
