Hello all,

I have 3 of these marvellous Panorama cameras ( DS-2CD2387G2P-LSU/SL) But with one I have an issue and I don't know how to troubleshoot it . Some help is very much appreciated.

When I am on the blue iris computer itself and I click to view the camera by itself , the stream pops up almost immediately.
When I want to view the stream of the camera remotely (cellphone or PC , internal network , but also outside network) , it takes up to 10 seconds to display the feed, and than most of the time only an 1 FPS stream ...... if I am lucky.

The other 2 panorama cameras don't have this issue , the only difference is they are on another switch. As far as I can see the settings in Blue iris are the same as well.
Anyone has an idea what could be going on?

This is for example the other camera with the same settings ( the one without issues 20 fps , the troubled one I have set on 6 FPs) , which shows the stream almost immediately on an external pc or cellphone (blue iris app).

Many thanks,

This sounds like more of a network issue than a BI one, can you connect the problem camera through a different switch to confirm, or swap a good camera with the problem camera?

Your statement "When I want to view the stream of the camera remotely (cellphone or PC , internal network , but also outside network)" What do you mean by internal network, are the BI cameras on a separate subnet or a V-Lan?

@Bruce_H I am hoping to avoid swapping the cameras , because it is a pain to go there high up.

I would think the same, but why is this :

Showing that the data coming in with the fps is the same as the other cameras? Or doesn't this mean anything for viewing the cameras?

I meant , when I am not on the Blue iris computer , but on any other device , on my home network , but also when I am out in a coffeeshop, hotel etc. I just checked on the blue iris computer:
When I open the stream within the blue iris programm , the stream is there immediately , when I want to view the stream on that same computer but with a webbrowser , it takes ages. But only with this camera, all the other cameras don't have this delay.

Thanks,

You need to make the iframes match FPS.

Best to match FPS for main and sub also.

Sounds like with a KEY of 0.25 that is just is taking longer to switch to mainstream.

But yes it also looks to be a network bottleneck somewhere since you have the substream FPS and iframes match, but in BI it is showing they don't and if it isn't another setting in the camera that is causing it, then it is a network bottleneck.

@Bruce_H : On the Blue iris PC , opening the stream with the webbrowser is not really better. the stream starts a bit faster , but also 0 to 1 FPS only.
changing VBR to CBR didn't make a difference.

@wittaj : The Iframes are the same, or is that something different?

I know they are the same, but the KEY in BI is showing 0.25 and it should be a 1.00 when they match.

That is telling us you either have another setting in the camera that is altering the iframe (usually an AI codec) or you have a network bottleneck.

@wittaj : I see , an AI codec , any idea where I could find a setting for this?

For the network , I do have a network tester which consists of 2 small devices with LED lights , which just checks of the wires are in the correct order ( and they are). Is there a way without special gear to test the network? Hooking up my PC on that end of the cable and a test programm? any suggestions?

Thanks,
Cor
