Hi from new member ‍♂️. Preparing complex private 30.000sqm infrastructure for 2026.

Wishing you all a happy and prosperous new year!

I'm preparing for the end of Q1 2026 a surveillance infrastructure for a private home in a 30.000sqm rural property in Sicily. The house is located at the center of a 150x200m property with some olive trees. 2 electrical gates at the entrance, along a private way with only a few neighbours. Everything is a new construction, and there are current and Cat6 cable nearly in every corner of the property, with connection points every 30 meters.

I've read some forums and some AI suggestions. This is where I am at now:

All camera's will be cabled, most if not all with POE.
Main switches are 2.5Gbps, the others 1Gbps.
Thinking of motion triggered floodlights, coupled with PTZ zoom cameras with 1.2" sensors and Onvif profile T. All connected to a new Intel CPU with Frigate or BlueIris, depending if I need motion tracking.

There are issues with the GDPR laws in Italy (no filming of any public road part, nor of neighbour's property), videos only allowed to be stored for a maximum of 7 days. Other issues are the strong sun rays, specially at dawn or sunset, birds, wild cats and dogs, and insects.

Willing to wait up to summer 2026 to get the latest technology with AI and encoding in the camera's latest chipsets. Budget not fixed yes, but would like to keep it in the range of 1.000 - 2.000 EUR for the cameras.

What's your threat profile in Sicily? Do you need good night IR images?
I have similar rural property in Canada, it's 20 acres (8ha) and frankly I don't care about security too much, it's mainly about making sure I can detect deers inside fenced area and watching wildlife in general
So for me T54IR-ZE-S3 and B54IR-Z4E-S3 cameras from EmpireTech with Blue Iris are good enough.

I don't really have a threat profile yet. I think the internals of the house needs protection against house intrusions and burglary during (prolonged) absence, 3 water reserves of 50.000 liters each need surveillance and protection specially during the dry season, and generally speaking the 30.000 sqm need surveillance against intrusions by humans or animals and against fire.

Therefore the risks are diverse, the terrain for each part is diverse, and any strategic and technical future-proof guidance from security experts is welcome.
