4MP Wi-Fi Battery Video Doorbell
The WiFi Video Doorbell is a new addition to the Dahua Wireless series. It not only delivers 2K high-resolution imagery, but also captures more details than conventional fixed lenses through its ultra-wide fisheye lens. The doorbell features passive IR motion detection and transmits videos and audios to mobile devices, allowing you to remotely perform visual confirmation and communicate with visitors. Furthermore, it is compatible with 2.4G/5G Hz Wi-Fi 6 networks, enhancing its connectivity options.


This is presumably intended to be the battery-powered version of the DB41. Unfortunately, the technical specifications provide no information regarding ONVIF or RTSP support. To this day, the DB41 does not support ONVIF. :rofl: I also find it surprising that the DB43BB-BTR lists only a main stream, with no mention of a sub-stream.


By the way, here in Germany, you can now get the DB41 (without the chime) for around €60. That would be a pretty attractive price for a doorbell with those features, but without ONVIF, the device doesn't really make sense (to me). So, I’m sticking with my Imou DB61idoorbell for now, and I also have a Reolink Wi-Fi doorbell sitting here in its box as a "spare." :)

It remains a mystery to me why Dahua has "crippled" its new doorbells in this way, leaving them without ONVIF support. After all, the older Dahua models - as well as the OEM versions from Amcrest and Imou- do support ONVIF.

If only it was not a battery powered. Dahua needs to update their wired models. Hopefully @EMPIRETECANDY can provide an update

I think the unit can at least also be powered by a doorbell transformer.

USB (5 VDC±5%, 2 A) or binding post power supply
(12–24 VDC/8–24 VAC, 1 A)

In other words, the power supply via doorbell transformer should work exactly the same way as it does with my old Amcrest AD110 or my current Imou DB61i. However, it remains unclear whether an existing doorbell chime can also be used - as is possible with the older Amcrest/Imou models via a "chime kit." In any case, a "chime kit" is no longer included in the scope of delivery.

Unfortunately, Dahua hasn't provided detailed information regarding what features are available with specific power supply methods or what limitations apply - for instance, during battery operation. For example, with some other battery-powered cameras, a live RTSP stream is unavailable when the device is running solely on battery power.
Then again, Dahua isn't exactly known for providing customers with extensive information, so customers often have to play "guinea pigs" (in German "Versuchskaninchen") first. :rofl:

I feel like more and more people are moving away from doorbell transformers. Correct me if I'm wrong.
 
Here in Germany, doorbell transformers are definitely the standard for existing buildings, and many ("older") electrical contractors continue to install them in new builds as well. Yes, with more modern new builds - particularly single-family homes - LAN and PoE are coming into play, and people might even consider running PoE to the front door for the/a doorbell system; however, in my opinion, it isn't the standard yet. The costs are also higher, so people often fall back on "good old" doorbell wire, and no LAN/PoE is used. :)

Since I have been using Home Assistant for years and am therefore active in some forums on the topic, I see that users who are looking for a "simple/cheap" video doorbell are more interested in WiFi and batteries and hardly any users are looking for a video doorbell that also has a power supply via PoE. In this case you could also use an intercom system with PoE. Which of course is also more expensive.

That's why, in my opinion, very few manufacturers - like Reolink still does - even offer a video doorbell with PoE. It is not yet known whether Reolink will offer one with PoE for its new doorbell models. The new Reolink model of the 2nd Gen doesn't have PoE but instead has a battery + power supply via a bell transformer.


An existing bell/gong should then probably also be able to be operated, but you will also need the RLA-PK1 Power Kit for this. So the same thing as what Amcrest/Imou the chime kit is.
