Do the Dahua PTZ's have a safety mechanism when it is snowing outside?

Just went through a blizzard after so many years
The PTZ was able to pan up and down, but would not respond to left or right, likely due to the motor being seized from ice
Would this have incurred any internal damage? Or are there safety mechanisms in place?

Same Boat. I think the belts just slip when the head is stuck. Just don't keep attempting to move it until is thaws. After 4 years this is the first time they seized up, two identical models mounted in diff locations. I rebooted each camera and reset PTZ in each cameras settings, but the coordinates are all off now relative to presets. Think the belts just slip when they iced up. Is there anyway to get everything back to default positions I wonder?

I am really sorry to hear the extent of what you went through - New England got the brunt of this storm with over 2-feet of snow; adding onto the prior storm. Whereas, I got about half of that amount, being in the mid-Atlantic.

I did exactly as you did, by restarting the PTZ, and going through all the presets and lucky enough, everything is relatively at the default position without any further hiccup. My area is already thawing and melting as we speak.
You're right - it is a belt system and my concern is the fragility of it. I did not any hear any unusual sounds even when autotracking was still on while I was digging out. I am hoping there is a internal programming that prevents damaging the belt system when it detects binding or resistance.

Try reestablishing each preset again (exactly as it was noted prior to the storm) and see if the PTZ is able to readapt.

By the way - what model do you have exactly? These PTZ's have undergone through multiple iterations over the years.

I went through this in an ice storm a few years back. I just unplugged the cam until the sun did its job and melted the ice. The lens was covered so it was useless anyway.

note to self: When the next Ice Age comes buy static cams.
