digital noise reduction off gives me grainy image

I just bought a new camera iDS-2CD7A46G0-IZHS 8 to 32 mm FOV, the image was ok when I first installed it, as soon as I turned off digital noise reduction the image day/night got so grainy, is thats how its supposed to be ?
I was expecting more from this camera, hopefully its only some setting I have to configure properly. I tried increasing sharpness didnt solve anything maybe even made it worse. I am trying to find gain level in exposure settings I cant seem to find it at all. I uploaded some pics day/night with and without digital noise reduction.
any tips would be much appreciated

Yep, there is a TON of digital processing in these cameras.

You need to keep it on and at the lowest value you can tolerate.

is that specific to hikvision ? or also same for dahua etc ...
bec I have another hanwha 2mp it doesnt have this issue when i disable ssnr, or ssnr is something different from digital noise reduction ?

I tried to search yesterday for latest firmware but couldnt find, it seems i have to regsiter to hik connect partner program, does it matter which country i register in, like for example if i regsiter in uk will it still be able to see license plates from other countries/continents ?

They all do it to some extent.

The hamwha baseline NR may not actually be zero and has some applied even when off.
