I have a DCS PowerSeries 5010 (832) alarm system at home. The system is old but works well. I have had it monitored (using VOIP) by a company that was, in my opinion, reliable and inexpensive. This company got recently bought by a company that I do not trust and, in short, I do not expect anything good to come from the new company.
I started to look at the self-monitoring options and I found out the EyezOn Envisalink EVL_4EZR product that seems to be an easy to install and use option. If I am not mistaken it works with the EyezOn Mobile phone/tablet application. Unfortunately this app has a relatively low rating, 2.6 out of 5, with strong complaints about the quality of the app.
I noticed some threads in this forum discussing the EVL_4EZR product but they are relatively old (2019). I would like to ask you some questions about EVL_4EZR and the phone app. Here are the questions:
1. Can users of the EVL_4EZR product and the EyezOn Mobile app share the pros and cons of them as they see it after a while of using them? Please share any concerns and hints that you may have.
2. Are there other than EyezOn self-monitoring options you would recommend?
3. Can one use EVL_4EZR to do both self-monitoring through IP/internet (this is what the product is designed to do) and, at the same time, continue to use professional monitoring through the current VOIP connectivity? In other words, instead of disconnecting the 4-wire phone cable from the home phone loop (VOIP) and connecting it to EVL_4EZR, can one keep the current connection to the home phone loop and, in parallel, connecting it to EVL_4EZR for self-monitoring hoping that both paths would work ok? I think this subject was mentioned in this forum in 2019 but it is not clear to me from that thread if it was actually tried.
Thank you!
