Hi, im looking to go the Vari Focal turret route. Everything ive seen recommended the 4mp, and 1/1.8 lens.
This one is available at a decent price to me. But lens is smaller.
Any thoughts or experiences with this camera specs setup? will it be ok or the 1/1.8 is better for the 4mp?

Other option is similar but in 6mp

Any advice would be great

Look no further than the 5442 S3 Varifocal turrets available at EmpireTech (this is not a paid sponsorship)
Lol.. yeah they seem like the go to. How about the IPC-T54PRO-ZE. Im assuming this is the nighttime colour version? I dont mind some night time colour

The T54Pro is a newer model and does not share the same sensor as the 5442. It still has kinks to be worked out and there is no guarantee that a firmware update will patch those kinks anytime soon. However, if you need built in LEDs it may still be worth looking into it depending how and where it is installed and utilized. It took a few iterations to work out the issues in earlier (pre S3) 5442

Right ok i do remember seeing those reviews yesterday on the forum, didnt realise it was that model I was reading about lol.
So basically the best sensor currently is not available inna night colour camera, but its good enough not to need colour
Thanks for the info

If you have adequate street / ambient lighting the 5442 model can do very well in forced-color mode (no IR)

"Night Color" is a marketing term not a technical term.

If you have enough ambient light or are willing to add light (motion floods) the 5442 will indeed switch to color at night given the right settings.
The difference between it at the 54PRO (which as mentioned isn't ready for prime time) is that the 54PRO has onboard white lights.
