Not being familiar with the Dahua NVRs, as I am using an old HP PC with Blue Iris, what are the pros and cons of using the Dahua NVR? With BlueIris and Rekor Scout I can collect license plates, and assume the I could still use Rekor Scout on a PC with the same cameras connected to an NVR. Any pointers appreciated. This isn't for me but for a friend, and I want to make their Dahua security camera use as simple as possible.

Easy
Are they into computers and such? BI

Are they hands off and just want reliable? NVR

No idea on using 3rd party service like Recor scout? I suppose if the cameras are on a switch it could, but no integration with the NVR

Hi BigRed. In my own case, I have the Z12E on BlueIris and also have it configured on Rekor Scout, albeit on the same PC. Wondering if they could likewise use their Z12E on an NVR and still use Rekor Scout on a PC.

Sure. I mean if the camera is on a small external switch, it can still be recording on the NVR. I have some cams plugged into the NVR and some on external switches

So it would be accessible on the LAN network like yours is now.

I just don’t know the details of how Recor Scout picks up the stream or how it deals with the data.

Yeah if the camera is on a switch and the switch is connected to the NVR and the BI computer, then it can stream to the NVR and Rekor.
