Is there a way to format a brand new HDD from within the NVR or do you have to format before you install? If so can someone tell me how as my NVR is not detecting my new 3tb purple.

On a Dahua NVR format the drive after it's installed in the NVR. Go to STORAGE>HDD MANAGER and in here you should see the drive. Click on the drop down and you will see an option for format the HD.
