Been running a couple of these at a residential front door and a small shopfront entry. Writing this up because most threads on the 3849 are either spec dumps or "it's great" with no detail.1778570530809.png

What works well
Smart Dual Illumination does what it says. Default at night is IR. The moment SMD 4.0 classifies a human or vehicle, warm-white LEDs fire and you get a full-colour clip. Drops back to IR when the zone clears. So no constant white flood annoying the neighbours; colour only when something actually happens.

Active deterrence on confirmed SMD events: red/blue strobes + white floodlight + 110 dB siren + 2-way audio all hit simultaneously. You can also pre-load a voice message to auto-trigger — "You are being recorded, leave now" — fires without you touching your phone. More effective than it sounds.
AcuPick on a compatible AI NVR is legitimately useful — tap a detection thumbnail, it searches all channels for matching appearances. Saves a lot of manual scrubbing. Requires a Dahua AI NVR; SD-only standalone won't get this.

Right camera for: front door, driveway, shopfront entry within ~6 m where active deterrence is the priority. Wrong camera for: LPR at range, covert install, Wi-Fi-only setup, long-boundary IR coverage.
Happy to answer questions on zone config or NVR pairing.
