Dahua, Hikvision, and other Non-NDAA brands are no longer sold in the USA

I've been a Montavue customer for a few years now and have nothing but great experience with them. Since they have strictly been using Dahua cameras I was a bit concerned about this ban and called their support line to which they confirmed that they are switching to a different manufacturer, FoxLink. FoxLink is also the company that has acquired the Dahua USA branches. Foxlink is ONVIF compliant so they will work with other ONVIF compliant systems.

The only other company I can find that uses Foxlink is a brand called Luminys, I have a feeling a lot of other brands like Amcrest are going to be slowly switching over to Foxlink as well.

There are still ways and many here will continue to buy OEM of them until the quality of others are comparable for the price.

Well I just got back in town from a 3 day 22 camera install and now that ADI can no longer supply dahua I pulled the trigger unfortunately. I don’t even know how to convey the level of disappointment. Not about picture quality so the hobbiest may not care but if you’re going to install all day every day, jeez. I’ll start with the interior cams; N3D-8LA2. They made the screw wells so deep you can’t use any of your multibit torx tools to open/close. Had to use their little Allen tool which was fun seeing as the screws don’t have grommets to keep them from falling out. And of the 3 screws...

Thread 'Luminys vs EmpireTech?'

I'm hoping to learn what the differences are between Luminys vs EmpireTech.

I know this forum strongly supports Andy w/ empiretech, and that's great, but since Luminys is the same Dahua hardware, is there a big difference between the two? What I can tell it would be two things: international shipping availability and firmware. is that about it?

I have plans to get cameras installed at my house, and have an installer who would prefer to use Luminys instead of me buying empiretech. It's easier for me so I'd love to, but what am I losing out on if I do it his way? Same cameras (as close as...
