In the Dahua/Empiretech NVR Storage - Disk Manager window there's an asterisk next to one of the two HDD #'s - what does it mean, please?

I want to empty the drives so we can observe disk usage with changed settings.

I don't want to risk wiping all of the camera settings when I format.

Thanks.

Camera settings are stored on the camera.

I would this k you’ll only lose recorded video

The asterisk shows which HDD is currently recording.

OK, cool. What about the camera settings and other configuration, please?
Are they stored on either of the drives or only in NVR memory - untouched when the drives are formatted?
(I don't see any other provision, other than formatting, to empty the contents of the drives.)

Only thing stored on the drives are the video. All NVR settings are on memory on the motherboard.
