I have a NVR5416-16P-4KS2E NVR downstairs.

There's two USB ports in the back. One is used by my mouse. The mouse doesn't move anymore.

The other USB port is used by an ethernet to USB adapter.

If I connect the mouse to a PC, the mouse works.

There's also a USB port on the front of the NVR. Mouse doesn't move when connected to that port either.

Also, I have a USB extender connected to my upstairs TV, and another mouse upstairs. The upstairs mouse doesn't work with the NVR either.

Any suggestions? I tried contacting my installer. He said to reboot the NVR. That didn't fix it.

Have you tried the mouse in the port occupied currently by the Ethernet to USB adapter? I'm thinking maybe the other USB port lost it's 5VDC power.

Re: that "Ethernet to USB adapter."....the NVR doesn't have a built-in RJ-45 female Ethernet port marked "LAN" ?

I have now tried that USB port that was connected to the Ethernet to USB adapter.

Mouse still doesn't move.

I've have now tried all 3 USB ports, the two on the back and the one in the front.

In each case, the mouse appears to have power, because the optical tracking lights up.

It just doesn't move when I try to use it.

Also, I'm not sure what the Ethernet to USB adapter is for anymore. I got this installed in 2018. So there's some things I forgot why they are the way they are.

And again, if I connect my mouse to a PC, it works.

2018 is a good run for an NVR, might be time to bag that one, and get something newer.

I think there is a mouse sensitivity slider under system/general, make sure that is turned up. You could also plug a keyboard into one of the USB ports to see if that works or a thumb drive to see if the ports are dead.

Many older NVRs wont recognize, (dont have the drivers for) USB wireless mouse(s)

Plug a wired mouse in and it will likely work
