I am getting ready to switch to Blue Iris from a NVR. I am curious how most of you set up to view your camerason a phone or in a browser. I am thinking about creating a VPN but curious what others are doing. Thanks.

Most of us do not spend the money on the BI app - the built-in UI3 is more than adequate for most needs.

Most here will use a VPN type system.

For what it's worth, I have a dedicated desk top for my cameras using BI. For me, it is easier to view footage and to manage past recording file size. I do have the BI app on phones to view footage when out of town. As far as the VPN most on here will be in favor of the VPN

I did the same. Dedicated PC and I think VPN is way to go.

I'm using Tailscale and the BI App. I left the NVR in the chain of network devices, so the girls can use the Amcrest View Pro app.

I use OpenVPN server that is built into some ASUS routers, just have to load the free OpenVPN client onto a PC or my phone and use the web UI3 viewer! Do Not use the built in port forwarding that is part of the BlueIris application, it is unsecure in my opinion and you will get port scanned hundreds of times a day!

I have hardware made by Sonuvwall that I will be using. I try to stay away from port forwarding if I can. This is great info.
