I am having some issues mounting a CIFS folder from my Synology to my Blueiris VM (on Proxmox).
Background: A few years ago I moved my BI installation from a desktop PC with a video card to a VM on a Proxmox cluster and it runs great. I had plenty of NAS storage available so I moved my stored folder (several thousand recordings) from a local Proxmox volume to a Truenas SMB share, primarily so that I could move the BI VM between nodes for maintenance. I was getting a lot of nasty messages about timeouts moving the files to the Truenas share and eventually moved back to a local volume on a Proxmox node. I want to take another crack at this and try my Synology since I have way more free space than necessary on it vs. Truenas.
My Proxmox nodes each boot from a pair of 3TB local disks in a RAID1 config but all VMs and Container storage volumes are on NFS shares mounted to Proxmox from Truenas NFS volumes. Also, my network is 10G from NICs through all switches and computers.
My primary question is how should I present the Synology SMB share to the BI VM - as a mounted folder (i.e. F
or as a UNC path (i.e. \\SynologyArray\ShareName)? And second, are there any specific settings I should watch out for on the Synology (it is running DSM 7.1.1).
