All are familiar with the "All weather PTZ, auto zoom, Auto Track style of cameras, I believe.
Most do well but are VERY large.

If one wanted to have the same function but inside on a window sill, through an open window, would this other type typically used for lectures or churches. But they seem to have all the same functions, maybe more. But I can't really trust a true comparison.
This is for those, like me, that look at alternative fringe usage so I KNOW this forum has all the knowledge for these things.
Are these indoor PTZ, Auto track, Auto zoom, a good substitute for the HUGE outdoor possible equivalent?

I have two of the Dahua LARGE 1st models but then these indoor units seem to VERY similar apart from the LIghts, alarms, etc.

What am I missing? Or just the Outdoor/Indoor MAIN differences.
Love to hear any opinions.

Thanks, kilopapa

The problem with it sitting inside on a Window sill is you lose the nighttime infrared capability. Even if you have enough light to stay color, the range would be limited.

There will also be situations where the reflection from the glass will wreak havoc with the autotracking and the focus.

Thanks, didn't think of IR.....but I left out the part that the window would be open.
I just didn't know if used during daylight, if they were missing something like speed, etc.
Seems they track people walking around on a stage, walking toward and away from the Cam.
I appreciate the reply as I had not thought of both issues.

In that case it would probably work ok except for when there is a big enough temperature difference between outside and inside.

I was testing a camera once and it was inside but pointed out an open window and I kept seeing this wavy pattern - it was the thermal difference as the warm inside air was hitting the cooler outside air. For a few minutes I thought the camera was defective LOL
