I posted a thread titled "Very Strange Problem Suddenly Happened" in "Camera Installation Questions"

And in a response that appears to have come from the User nihomox, he quoted my original post incorrectly.

If you read that last paragraph of my original post it says

Quote...."But even now, when I do network search for that one camera I have up and running, those 3 phones can't find it when connected to the router. Only one phone finds the camera when I do network search, and that phone was the only phone I did not use last night"

However when user nihomox quoted me in his response he some how added a line to my quote that I KNOW I didn't say
That line reads ... "similar to how some people have to carefully learn Quran online step by step" <---- I DID NOT WRITE THAT LINE IN MY ORIGINAL POST.

It looks as if that line was inserted by nihomox, or some other nefarious acts being perpetrated on his user account

I don't know how or why that line was inserted into my quote, but it's inappropriate on multiple levels

Is it possible an admin can delete that line, or his entire response if needed?

Thanks for letting us know. The best way to report stuff like this is with the "Report" button below each post. I deleted the offending user and their posts.

Editing a quote is as easy as editing any other text. Quotes are completely mutable (editable) in all forum software I've ever seen.

Some spammers are pretty clever. I looked into this nihomox character and he has done this multiple times injecting web links into quotes where they are unlikely to be noticed. They were probably doing it for SEO (search engine optimization) where they take advantage of a fact that search engines will promote results for websites that are often discussed on other websites.

You edited your original post, so how do we know you did not make that comment? And the person quoted your original post before edits?

Lol yes, but admins can see edit history.

The original post was made July 16th.

That's 6 months ago. And I know your edit window only last a very short time, maybe a few hours.

I have no ability to edit a 6 month old post. nihomox quoted me last night, and If he quoted a 6 month old post, it must have been VERBATIM, just as the paragraph you see right now. Which means the only editing being done had to be on his end, not mine.

But more importantly, that line is completely out of context from anything that I'm saying, therefore nonsensical. If I had written that line, it would have been coherently written
