Hi folks.

I have had BI 5.4.4.2 humming along on my (old) PC for a few years now....I am not a believer in "upgrading" versions just for upgrade sake....

Plus my old PC may not be able to handle the newest version.

That all said --- I have been tinkering with the detection/trigger settings a bit in this old version.

I get more "hits" when bugs cross the path of the IR at night but animals (opossums, raccoons) walking through the frame at night do not trigger alerts and I am wondering what I am doing wrong? Their eyeballs are all lit up and everything.....but no alerts.

Any common areas to check/try?

I have a link to a video showing once such moment....but this page doesnt seem to allow it....so I am uploading two freezes.you can see that the bug crossing the IR beam at one point gets the alert going, but none of the animal activity triggers...

Thanks folks!

Possum is too distant and lacks enough contrast with its background. Few systems would ID that
I thought that too at first but I often get alerts from a clump of leaves on the tree moving (albeit in the daylight) where the leaves dont seem that contrasty to me....

I figured the glowing eyeballs would have triggered it since bugs in the IR do....?

If you dont have too many cameras, and at least a 4th Gen i5 intel processor( i have the i5-4590) you can upgrade to 6 no problem. Just only use the Ai on 2-3 cameras. I kept adding AI to more cameras until the system couldn't handle it,,,then chose the most important cameras and backed off of the Ai demand on the system.
that is my tinkering sytem.
my daily driver is an i7-8700 Dell Precision 3630 with a used "Dell branded" Nvidia RTX 3060Ti

Thanks for that info.....yeah I am contemplating a swap to a newer box....have to be in the right frame of mind to start down that road...lol

After my last post I basically set the detection to the most sensitive setting last evening and this morning found that I now am getting yellow squares around the possum, but not red ones....and still not triggering an alert.......so I am close......maybe......but still no cigar.
