Adding more cameras per Channel

Does anyone know if the 8 channel Hikvision NVR's allow more than 8 cameras? What about the 4 Channel more than 4 via POE switch? Does it solely depend on the firmware version?

No, 8ch will only handle 8 total no matter what same for a 4 ch.
