6k quote from security company

Hi,

My dad had a security company quote him $6k for 5 cameras and an nvr. Wires are already in place, so just need someone to provide cameras and install to the wall. They won’t even tell me what brand cameras , model is “TD-4K-B” and they appear to be 2.8mm 8mp fixed lens.

What are your thoughts on 2.8mm fixed 8mp cameras? Just want some validation from the group so I can share it with the parents. I know I can do this all with 5422 cameras from empire tech at a fraction of the cost.

What sensor is the 8MP on?

"TD" tends to be a TVT camera model. "B" for bullet camera.
TVT is cheap cameras sold in electrical wholesalers.

Possibly your installer is buying through this supplier as they seem to use same model number scheme without "TD" at the start.

$6k for 5 cameras ? Tell them to go rip someone else off. I swear, some trades think their work is gold plated. I know a few electricians that think that way.

So based on what most of us use..

NVR- $500+ HDs - $750
Cameras- $250 ea - $1250
Labor for the day one guy?- $1000

Sounds expensive. If I was in Cali (LOL) I would come by and do it tomorrow for $3500 plus pizza
