Parking lot light pole camera install

That's very interesting! I was under the impression that the light poles here were 277v. I wondered how they would pull a 120v off it. I too thought some sort of stepdown transformer was going to be needed like you mentioned. While it still doesn't make a whole ton of sense to me since most...

Parking lot light pole camera install

Okay, will definitely need more than 1ft as that bolt is at the base of the pole, so more like a 15 ft piece haha. Now I just need to game plan getting the grounding wire out of the box and into the pole down down there.

Parking lot light pole camera install

Let me pick your brain then for advice as I want to do this right, for sure. I do know, when the maintenance crew ran the wiring, I saw a big 1 inch bolt inside the pole that the existing wiring had their grounds hooked into. The crew attached the grounding wire to that same bolt as well and...

Parking lot light pole camera install

Thanks! I thought I probably should ground those ethernet protectors, but wasn't sure what I should attach it to. Not sure if just putting a screw in one of those holes on the mounting plate would be sufficient. Thoughts? Yes, holes had to be drilled to mount the cameras on the front. Not...

Parking lot light pole camera install

Finally after several months of having this project on my mind, we finally pulled the trigger and got it done. Thanks to a wonderful maintenance crew who were able to help get the power sorted and getting it wired up into the box, made my camera install a lot less complicated. Here's the end...

Support Needed – Hikvision CCTV Network Issue

I'm not an expert, but that sounds quite unusual. You said 'some cameras' lose their network connection when it goes to generator, but work fine when operating normally. So some are staying up working? Are all the cameras ran back to the same network switch or are they routed to different areas...

Suggestions for camera pole installation, power to NEMA box?

I'm beginning to see the end of the road on our camera upgrade project that we've been working on and I've been wanting to install a camera in a remote parking lot on our campus. I thought we might could try to source a 9-10ft 4x4 post that we can anchor into a concrete pad, run power in the...

Poor IR contrast in new Tennessee license plates

I'm not sure about the pulsed white light or how I'd be able to make that work. Not sure I'm quite that savvy. Not be worried about blinding somebody driving down the road? The IR blaster is definately something I could check into and see about getting one to try. Do you think more IR would be...

Poor IR contrast in new Tennessee license plates

Yes, I would say the camera is at almost max zoom. I didn't want to capture plates at too much of an angle, so I tried to straighten it out more down the roadway so it could have a more straight-line shot.

Poor IR contrast in new Tennessee license plates

I attached some pictures in my previous post, but I would say the plates are about 120ft from the camera itself. Not ideal by any means I know, but unfortunately was limited in where we could put them, but I also know that unfortunately can tie hands on trying to get the IR issue effectively...

Poor IR contrast in new Tennessee license plates

Here's some examples of what we've been getting trying to tinker with different settings with varying degrees off success. As far as doing it in color though, success is very spotty and the majority of the time at night our ANPR does not get a read on the plate even though we can almost always...

Poor IR contrast in new Tennessee license plates

We can bump the resolution down to 1080p. Would that make any difference as far as what you're saying or is it still because of the internal lens itself being a 5mp with the 1/2.8" sensor still the issue.

Poor IR contrast in new Tennessee license plates

We purchased an ANPR camera from Digital Watchdog - DWC-XSBA05MiL. But yall make a good point about the lens needing to be able to 'see' it. I saw where Flock had made comments that they some how 'trained' their cameras to be able to identify the new plates from Tennessee. I wonder if this is...

Poor IR contrast in new Tennessee license plates

Thanks. I just got to looking and realized that you don't seem to be able to buy an actual 730nm IR blaster :(. Unfortunately I already have 3 LPR cameras we purchased, about $2k each and didn't realize that they didn't like Tennessee's license plates.

Poor IR contrast in new Tennessee license plates

Thank you! The 730nm IR is what I was looking for. I had seen some discussions about the different IR types but wasn't what had been confirmed. Ill check out the 730nm and see about making an investment for those.

Poor IR contrast in new Tennessee license plates

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I wanted to inquire here if anybody had found a confirmed solution to addressing the IR issue with some LPR cameras picking up the 3M printed license plates, like Tennessee. I saw comments about different IR wavelengths being a potential reason, but...

Dual sensor camera for overview and LPR?

I apologize if this question has been asked before, I did try to look and found one thread here that seemed to discuss multisensor cameras and LPR but didn't seem to find a specific answer. I think the camera mentioned with a Hikvision camera which we don't purchase anymore due to NDAA...

Did I do an okay job on this install?

This is an internal project and I'm certainly no professional, but I thought I'd put these few pics on here for critique. I feel like I did a decent job looking at some of the examples on here and many of the "what not to do" forum posts, but I know there's always room for improvement. Whats...

    Uniview Unicorn VMS?

Haha! Our 4k, 4mp and 2mp cameras would be so spectacular with those bitrates and framerates. Be like trying to look at cameras through a potato. Might as well downgrade to analog, at least it'd be better quality at that rate :P

    Uniview Unicorn VMS?

Ah you're right. I see that now on Nelly Security's datasheet. In all reality then, your camera number is likely going to be limited to that 512Mbp. I do know enough to know that with 512Mbps, in no way could it support as many cameras as it's claiming going directly into the Unicorn. I'm...

    Uniview Unicorn VMS?

I've come across this Uniview Unicorn that can supposedly handle 1000+ cameras????? Say what? Does anybody know if it's a viable option to use to replace all the NVR's we have and just put all the cameras on the Unicorn? Instead of 15 NVR's spread around for 400-500 cameras, just get rid of them...

Axis Camera Disabling NTP Time Automatically

No, it was being operated standalone. Not sure what end up being the issue but we reset the camera to default settings and it fixed the issue.

Axis Camera Disabling NTP Time Automatically

Got a new Axis camera, a P3807-PVE. In trying to get the time set up, I'm running into an issue where the camera is automatically disabling my NTP settings. I've updated the camera today to the latest firmware to see if that would resolve the issue, but it's still almost like clockwork every 5...

Some cameras freezing in main stream on Live View

Have a curious situation. We've got several Hikvision systems, but this mainly affects our 4k cameras. In Live View, we have all of our cameras when you pull it up on the iVMS-4200 computer software or the phone app to show up in default substream quality. This only affects 4 or 5 cameras out...

how to make good cat6 cables all the time

Nothing wrong with using Cat5e RJ45's on your Cat6, but only downside is Cat5e connectors are rated a Gigabit speeds and Cat6 is at 10 gbps. So you're in a sense potentially bottle-necking the maximum speeds your cables will handle. But then again, what are the odds you're running a 10gbps...

    Blue Iris for Educational facilities?

Is Blue Iris ideal for use in Educational Facilities? At this time, we're currently doing to a retrofit from old analog DVR's/cameras and replacing them with Hikvision (Nelly's) cameras and NVRs. We currently have almost 400 cameras on our campus. Approximately half of those are now 2MP IP...

    installed by a alarm comany

I'll be the first to admit, I'm not licensed in my state to do CCTV. I mainly do it for my employer where I'm covered, but every once in a blue moon word will get around about me knowing how to do cameras and a small business will ask me to install cameras for them. I'm always hesitant about...

    Hikvision seller & questions

I'm not sure about the ebay seller, but I trust Nelly's Security (who is a featured vendor here on IPCT). Hands down. We've probably bought about $10k worth of a equipment over the last couple of years and always had top notch support -- and it's all English cameras. As far as water spots, I...

    Issue with Everfocus PTZ RS-485

Let me know your results please. Our systems are quite old now, at least 7 years old so I'm pretty certain a new unit is out of the question -- not that it really matters as we're slowly converting over to Hikvision IP systems.

    Issue with Everfocus PTZ RS-485

Sadly, no. I have not been able to resolve the issue. So basically I'm forced to use my camera tester to turn the camera. Saves me the trouble of having to climb up on the ladder to turn the camera, but still. Kind of ridiculous that this makes three Everfocus systems we have in our system that...
